Our Authentic Greek Salad recipe makes the most famous salad that you will find in Greece. It is easy to prepare and extremely healthy. This is the Mediterranean Diet at it's finest.
2medium-sizedtomatoesroughly cut into medium-sized chunks or wedges
1English cucumberpeeled and cut into thick half-moon-shaped slices
1green pepperremove the seeds and stem, sliced
1/2smallred onionpeeled, thinly sliced
a fewblack olives
approx150gfeta cheeseone piece
1/4cupextra virgin olive oil
1/2tspdried oregano
1-2tspred wine vinegar**OPTIONAL**
Instructions
Wash and dry tomatoes, cucumber, and green pepper.
Add prepared tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper, red onion, and olives to a bowl. Mix to combine.
Add a large piece of feta cheese.
Pour extra virgin olive oil on top. Sprinkle with oregano.
Mix gently, carefully breaking up the feta with your fork to have large pieces of it.
Serve with a side of fresh, crunchy bread to soak up the juicy-oily dressing. This salad can be served as a side, meze, or as a whole meal. Smile and Enjoy!

I highly recommend serving it with a piece of crusty bread to absorb the delicious juices that are leftover in the bowl.OPTIONAL SUBSTITUTIONS:Replace medium tomatoes with smaller plum tomatoes or cherry tomatoes, green pepper with any coloured bell pepper, or English cucumber with smaller cucumbers. You may also omit the feta if you follow a dairyOPTIONAL EXTRAS:In Greece, it's common to add pickled capers or pickled small hot peppers. You may also add barley or whole-wheat rusks to make it a more complete meal.STORING INSTRUCTIONS:Classic Greek Salad is best when eaten fresh, at the time of preparation. I recommend storing leftovers in the refrigerator in an air-tight glass container for a maximum of one day.
